Kirthar Block

Kirthar Block is located in District Dadu, Sindh. The exploration license for Kirthar was awarded to POGC as operator on May 18, 2005. Later, PPL acquired 30 percent working interest in the block through an agreement with POGC on February 23, 2006.

Tight gas discoveries, Rehman and Rizq, have been made in the block.

POGC and PPL signed the country’s first-ever Tight Gas Sale Purchase Agreement with SSGCL on November 13, 2012. Accordingly, SSGCL built a 52-kilometre long pipeline to transport gas from the field to the industrial areas in Sindh that led to initiation of early well testing of the discovery in mid-2013. Later, permanent plant facility was commissioned in August 2015.
