Dhok Sultan Oil Field

Dhok Sultan Oil Field

The discovery from Dhok Sultan X-1 was made in December 2015. During initial testing, the well flowed 1.4 MMscfd gas and 1113 bbl/d condensate at a flowing well head pressure (FWHP) of 1783 psia. However, the well was suspended in 2016 due to completion problems.

Later, the well was side tracked in March 2019 and successfully completed in Lockhart Formation during July 2019. During drill stem testing, the well flowed up to 7 MMscfd associated gas along with ~ 3800 bpd oil at FWHP of ~800 psig at choke size 64/64”. The quality of gas was good with gross heating value of 1294 Btu /scf.

To assess long-term potential of the discovery from Dhok Sultan X-1, an extended well test (EWT) was required to ascertain reservoir behaviour and relevant hydrocarbon volumes. Accordingly, an EWT approval from Dhok Sultan X-1was granted by DGPC from September 15, 2019.

An EWT facility was set up at Dhok Sultan X-1 that commenced production on November 2, 2019. Currently, 0.9 MMscfd gas and ~650 bpd crude oil is being produced through the facility.

The sales gas is delivered to third party contractor at EWT facility and crude oil is dispatched to Attock Refinery Limited through bowsers. Gas delivered to third party contractor is further supplied to industrial customers and captive power plants through bowsers.

An appraisal well is planned at Dhok Sultan structure to assess the extent and size of the discovery.
