CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

This position will report to CEO and be fully accountable for leading operated, partner-operated assets, reservoir and field development, which is required to maintain strategic oversight on the overall production of hydrocarbons, drilling operations and related matters, aligning processes with company’s vision and mission. Furthermore, developing and implementing strategies for efficient, effective and safe operations aimed at optimizing production while managing operational risks and complying with applicable regulations. The position will look after the directorate’s annual business planning and budgeting, policy development and functional strategy formulation as well as providing full support to the company for its transformation.

Job Profile / Specifications
  • Able to develop and accomplish work plans by leading asset managers to ensure uninterrupted production and sales to achieve financial and operational targets across all producing assets, including mineral development projects
  • Capable of giving direction to petroleum engineering team for providing best solutions/ techniques for effective reservoir and well management as well as developing effective reservoir models and plans for field development, utilizing best available technological solutions
  • Able to provide direction on drilling of wells, completion and testing for evaluation of hydrocarbon potential and optimal production to provide value for the company
  • Capable of developing and implementing strategy for efficient development of oil and gas discoveries by mitigating technical and commercial risks associated with discoveries’ monetization
  • Able to provide guidelines to develop short and long-term strategic goals, production strategy, work programmes and proposals for improvement, expansion or addition in production and infrastructure/ facilities and address depletion in aging fields for continual improvements
  • Able to secure company’s interest in partner-operated areas by monitoring performance, production and development plans to ensure execution of scheduled activities in line with approved joint venture work programme, budget and AFEs
  • Be able to hold overall responsibility for designing, developing work programmes and completing projects/ tasks efficiently and in time while confirming to highest QHSE standards 
  • Able to participate and/or represent PPL in a variety of industry, institutional and professional forums as well as at regulators and ministries

Qualification and Experience

4-year bachelor’s/ master’s degree in petroleum/ mechanical/ chemical or related engineering discipline from reputable local or foreign institutions/ universities recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, preferably from a foreign university,  with minimum 25 years of experience in production/ drilling operations, projects execution and portfolio/ asset management, including at least 8 years in a management position in an E&P company.
