PPL discovers gas in Kotri Block, Sindh

Karachi: May 20, 2016: Pakistan Petroleum Limited operator of Kotri Block with 100 percent working interest has announced a gas discovery over its first exploration well Kotri X-1 located in District Hyderabad, Sindh.

Kotri X-1 was spud on February10, 2016 and reached the final depth of 3,892 meters on April 23, 2016. Based on the gas shows encountered during drilling and wireline logs evaluation, a Cased Hole Drill Stem Test was carried out in Lower Goru Massive Sands.

The well flowed good quality gas at an average rate of 3.4 MMscfd at Flowing Wellhead Pressure of 608 psi.

Preliminary analyses of the test data suggests that it may be a tight gas discovery, however, further evaluation is required to determine the nature and commerciality of the discovery based on the geological, geophysical and engineering data collected during drilling and testing of the well.
