New Water Supply Scheme for Sui Town
PPL has been supplying clean water to Sui town since the launch of its operations in the area.
Using a modern water-pumping station installed near Kashmore, about two million gallons of potable water is pumped daily to Sui and distributed through a 170-kilometers network to 40,000 beneficiaries free of charge.
However, due to distribution losses from supply lines laid by PPL, end-users in Sui town were increasingly dependent on bowzers to fulfil daily water requirements.
In order to develop an efficient water supply and distribution system for local residents, PPL and Government of Balochistan (GoB) developed a project to lay new water supply and distribution system for Sui town. As a key stakeholder, GoB is implementing the project with major financial input.
Through an investment of over one-third of the cost of the project, PPL has sponsored construction of the trunk line, four overhead water storage tanks with a total capacity of 120,000 gallons, two pump-houses with pumping machinery and repair of two existing water storage tanks along with an independent electrification system for operating the pumping station.
The new water supply scheme is expected to be complete in 2012.
