Health, Safety & Environment

The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Department functions as the monitoring and advisory arm of PPL to ensure adherence to international HSE standards by employees, contractors and visitors at all company locations and operational areas.

The department plans and develops policies and procedures for short- and long-term objectives of the company’s HSE programme. HSE staff regularly visit all operating fields and locations, including exploration and drilling sites, to monitor compliance with HSE standards and provide technical support on related matters. The department also identifies HSE statutory requirements in line with local regulations for all PPL operating departments and facilitates.

In pursuance of the Pakistan Environment Protection Act 1997, the department undertakes Initial Environmental Examinations and Environmental Impact Assessments for development projects followed by regular monitoring of project activities.

Workshops and trainings to raise HSE awareness and build capacity of staff are also a regular feature of the department’s annual activities.
