Farooq Azam Shah is a seasoned professional, well-versed with oil and gas industry, particularly production, refining, processing and commercial and regulatory aspects, for over 30 years. 

Shah joined Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) in 2009 as Deputy Chief Engineer (Process). He gradually rose to the senior management level serving on key positions, including Manager Commercial, Senior Manager Operations (Gambat South/ Hala/ Mazarani), Senior Manager Engineering Design and Acting General Manager Sui & Kandhkot, the last one he held before assuming the charge as General Manager Sui & Kandhkot on April 29, 2021. 

During his tenure at PPL, Shah remained involved in basic engineering development as well as detailed engineering review for a number of processing facilities of various capacities. These include 15 MMscfd Hala Gas Processing Plant, 30 MMscfd Adhi LPG/ NGL Plant-III and relocation and upgradation of two gas processing facilities (GPF) GPF I & IV besides setting up of GPF-II at Gambat South. Moreover, he was also involved in due diligence of Salsabil Gas Field of Dewan Petroleum Limited, Zamzama Surface facilities of BHP-Billiton and Badin and Mirpurkhas and Khipro facilities of British Petroleum (now United Energy Pakistan Limited). 

Prior to joining PPL, Shah worked for over two decades with various reputable national and international organizations, including MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company B.V., Dubai Petroleum Company and National Refinery Limited  During that time, Shah was part of significant projects, including compression for enhanced oil recovery, 0.5 million BPD additional facilities platform and debottlenecking of gas processing facilities.

Shah did his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi in 1985.

He has also attended several international and national professional training programmes
