Exploration North

Exploration North Asset (ENA) based in Islamabad, comprises a technical team, including geoscientists and engineers who are responsible for carrying out exploration activities in five operated blocks i.e. Dhok Sultan, Hisal and Karsal in Kohat-Potwar Basin,  Sadiqabad and Punjab in the Punjab platform. These blocks mainly fall in previously explored areas with a reasonably large seismic coverage and several hydrocarbon discoveries in the surrounding locations.

The major task for any exploration team is to drill wells successfully and avoid expensive dry holes. Therefore, in order to reduce risk of failure and high drilling cost, state-of-the-art technology has been employed to address geological and geophysical risks and uncertainties.  More recently, Pakistan Petroleum Limited has used Reverse Time Migration (RTM), Post Stack Depth Migration (PSDM) and attributes analysis for seismic data processing and interpretation.

To overcome high drilling cost due to complex and deformed geological structuration, ENA team has introduced " 3D Geomechanics by integrating 3D seismic, Structural Geology and advance Sonic&Image Logs". For better understanding of geological and petroleum system, high-resolution sequence stratigraphy, source rock evaluation and 3D petroleum system modelling studies have been initiated.
