Bokhari inaugurates PPL-funded ICU and ward at JPMC

KARACHI, June 11, 2015: MD and CEO Syed Wamiq Bokhari inaugurated the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and tuberculosis ward at the Department of Chest Medicine (DCM), Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) sponsored by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) at a ceremony held at JPMC.

Speaking on the occasion, Bokhari expressed his pleasure on the addition of the equipped health facility at JPMC, which has been serving citizens since 1947. He considered it PPL’s moral obligation to serve the nation through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme with the company being the largest corporate giver in the country having an annual CSR spending of over one billion rupees. 

MD PPL accompanied by DMDs Syed Kaleem Akhtar, Dr. Fareed Siddiqui and other company officials was welcomed by Executive Director JPMC Professor Anisuddin Bhatti, Vice Chancellor Jinnah Sindh Medical University Dr. Tariq Rafi, Joint Executive Director JPMC Dr. Seemi Jamali and Head, Department of Chest Medicine, JPMC, Dr. Nadeem Ahmed Rizvi.

The state-of-the-art tuberculosis treatment facility at JPMC with ICU, High Dependency Unit and a women ward equipped with ventilators, ultrasound, X-Ray, dialysis and other modern machines is the only free-of-cost facility in Karachi now open to public. “The addition of 16 beds to DCM enhances the treatment capacity to 110 patients,” added Dr. Rizvi.
