Adhi Gas / Condensate Field
Adhi field is located in the district Chakwal, and approximately 70 km from Capital Islamabad. A number of wells have been drilled in by different oil companies including Pakistan Petroleum Limited.  The drilling in Potwar basin is characterized by high drilling cost as a result of difficulties in drilling through complex geology.  Over the period of time, the advancement in drilling technology, better understanding and improvement in drilling fluid, cementation and well control technologies along with the additional knowledge of abnormal/subnormal pore pressures has made it possible to overcome these drilling problems.

The Adhi field area is part of the Himalayan fold and thrust belt, and is situated in a broad deformational zone, dominated by folding. The fold axes mostly trend in a north-east to south-west orientation in an en echelon pattern. The anticlines in the area tend to be tightly compressed and separated by broad, open synclines. The Adhi field structure, an anticline, broken by several longitudinal faults, is well expressed on surface.

Well No.1 was drilled in 1956. First four wells and then well No. 6 and 8 were abandoned due to high-pressure water inflows and pressure reversals.

After conducting additional seismic survey and re-interpretation of data, Adhi well-7 was successfully drilled down in basal Khewra formation and completed as oil/condensate producer form Khewra sandstone and Tobra formation in 1981.

Thereafter, adhi well 9-18 have been drilled and completed successfully. Fracture stimulation job has been carried out at adhi well.18 which enhanced the recovery from Tobra and Khewra reservoirs.

Well No.13, 15 and 17 have been completed in Sakesar formation to recover the crude oil. With an option to complete in the deeper reservoirs i.e Tobra and Khewra after depletion of Sakesar.

Formation was tested in Adhi-18 but did not flow and proved to be tight. Therefore, the well was successfully completed as Oil/Gas producer from Khewra and Tobra formations.
