Sohaib Qadar

General Manager Legal & Commercial

Sohaib Qadar joined Pakistan Petroleum Limited as General Manager Legal & Commercial on February 16, 2016.

Qadar has more than 26 years of diverse experience in the upstream petroleum industry as a lawyer, contracts negotiator, commercial manager and acquisitions & divestments manager, spanning more than 50 countries in 5 continents, including Pakistan. He has worked with two international major oil and gas companies, Occidental Petroleum Corporation and OMV Aktiengesellschaft, and consulted for several others, including BP, BHP Billiton, British Borneo Oil and Gas Plc, PETRONAS, China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), MND Group, MNP Petroleum Corporation, MOL Group, Government Holdings (Private) Limited, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, Pakistan Oil Fields Limited, Triana Energy and Tullow Oil Plc.

He has presented several papers at international forums and authored 8 books on petroleum and environmental laws of Pakistan. Qadar also taught law as a visiting faculty at International Islamic University, Islamabad and Management Development Institute, Islamabad.

Qadar holds a Juris Doctor degree from University of Cincinnati, USA and bachelors in Chemistry, Mathematics and Politics & Government from Ohio Wesleyan University, USA. In addition, he has attended various training courses, covering legal and commercial aspects of the upstream petroleum industry, in Pakistan, Canada, UK and USA.

Qadar is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Ohio, USA and Lahore High Court, Pakistan.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association, Lahore High Court Bar Association, Islamabad Bar Association, Society of Petroleum Engineers and Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. He was also the founder President of Petroleum Lawyers Association of Pakistan (now Energy Lawyers Association of Pakistan).
