Dr. Fareed Iqbal Siddiqui

Deputy Managing Director, Technical Services

Dr. Fareed Iqbal Siddiqui joined Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) in 1998 as Deputy Chief Engineer Reservoir. Since then, he has held various positions in the company, including Manager Reservoir Engineering, Senior Manager Reservoir Engineering, Senior Manager Sub-surface and General Manager Sub-surface, the later he held before assuming the charge as Deputy Managing Director, Technical Services. In his current role, Dr. Siddiqui leads the Projects, Drilling, Production Technology and Quality, Health, Safety and Environment departments.

Prior to joining PPL, he was involved in research at Strategic Research Centre, Mobil Oil Corporation, Dallas, USA and The University of Texas at Austin, USA.

Dr. Siddiqui earned his PhD in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas, USA in 1996 and a Bachelors and Masters in the same discipline from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia in 1984 and 1987, respectively.

He has attended various professional trainings, both home and abroad, including Advanced International Programme in Oil & Gas Financial Management at University of Texas, USA, Computer Audit Workshop for Accountants by Systems Security Limited, UK and Advanced Auditing by The Management School London.

With over 30 years of rich experience in production engineering, field development and reservoir management in the Middle East, Gulf of Mexico and Pakistan, Dr. Siddiqui has to his credit 14 technical papers with several presentations at the annual conferences of American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International and American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and their local chapters.

Dr. Siddiqui is a member of SPE and AAPG and has thrice been Chairman, Technical Programme for their Annual Technical Conferences. He is on the Advisory Board as well as Board of Studies of Petroleum Engineering Department, NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi. He is also part of the Curriculum Review Committee of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
