Community Development

Community Development (CD) is responsible for identification, planning and implementation of social development projects and welfare initiatives under Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL)’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in and around its operational areas. In response to PPL’s steady growth and outreach, the company’s CSR portfolio currently includes education, healthcare, water supply, infrastructural development, post-disaster rehabilitation and skill development for livelihood generation.

In line with the approval of PPL’s Board of Directors, the company has dedicated a minimum budget of 1.5 percent of its annual pre-tax profit for CSR initiatives. PPL Welfare Trust was established in 2001 as an independent entity registered under Trust Act 1882 to oversee the CSR initiatives, ensuring relevance, cohesion, sustainability and transparency.

CD also represents PPL at various forums, including Petroleum Social Development Committee and Expert Committee on Community Development at Pakistan Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies Association.
