Abid Saeed


Abid Saeed was elected as a member of Pakistan Petroleum Limited’s Board on September 16, 2017. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is also Chairman of the Board Strategy Committee and member of the Board Finance and Nomination Committees. 

He joined civil services in 1980 after completing his master’s degree in Economics from Government College Lahore in 1979. Later, he obtained another masters in Administrative Sciences from George Washington University, USA in 1987.

A seasoned professional, Saeed has vast experience in public administration while serving on key positions both with the provincial and federal governments.

As part of Sindh and Punjab governments, Saeed served as Assistant Commissioner, Khairpur, Jacobabad and Moro, Deputy Commissioner Bhakhar, Lodhran, Kasur and Faisalabad districts, Secretary, Literacy and Non-formal Basic Education, Forestry, Wildlife, Fisheries and Tourism departments of Punjab, Special Secretary, Local Government and Rural Department and Chief Executive Officer, Punjab Rural Support Programme.

Saeed was responsible for a number key assignments with the federal government, including Additional Secretary, Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Additional Secretary as well as Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources (now Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Division) and Secretary, Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gligit Baltistan, during 2011 to 2016.

His last assignment was with Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa as Chief Secretary from where he retired in August 2017.

He was on boards of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, Inter State Gas System (Private) Limited, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Pak Arab Refinery Limited.
